A Beach Anniversary Session

April 30

Doug & Sibriena wanted to do an Anniversary session which would incorporate lots of the details from their wedding day…peacock feathers, champagne, beautiful bouquets and precious moments. They started at the amazing Hotel GalvezCivic Photo captured some beautiful moments at the hotel followed by the beach where they did a setup of the decor used at their wedding…it created some truly beautiful images.

Katie + Ryan: a destination wedding

April 2

Where some brides are nervous about choosing a destination wedding, Katie knew she wanted one. Her beautiful beach wedding turned out to be not only intimate with friends and family present but also beautiful with lots of details and love.

“We knew well before getting engaged that we didn’t want a traditional wedding and that we just wanted close friends and family to be there when we did get married. We had been to Hawaii before on vacation and LOVED it, so we thought that would be a pretty awesome place to have an amazing wedding! It was definitely frustrating planning it from so far away because we couldn’t see anything in person. We were sent lots of pictures of the venue and the planner created a document of all our ideas and what we wanted (kind of like an inspiration board with pics and written descriptions of everything). A lot of it was having trust in our planner, Carrie, and she truly pulled off a day better than we could have imagined!”

A Water Table Wedding

January 20

Leigh Skaggs Photography sent us over this wedding that we are in love with!

Leigh shared with us that the first time I met Michelle she just lit up when she was talking about Ryan. She also talked about how being photographed was not their favorite thing. I completely understand this, and really do not like to be on the other side of the camera, either. So, when we scheduled our engagement session, I was expecting it to be a tough one. Michelle and Ryan walked into the session, like professional supermodels. They gave GREAT model faces, and were so easy to work with. The only thing negative was that we got Ryan’s awesome new Chuck Taylor’s wet in the ocean (sorry Ryan)! :-) But after that session, I just knew we were going to have a blast at the wedding! And we did! Michelle and Ryan were wed on a beautiful day at The Water Table in Virginia Beach Va. They both looked stunning and brought their model faces.

DIY: Shoe Pom Poms

January 7

Looking for a way to spice up your shoes?
You can make some pom pom clips! Or you can attach other things to these
clips such as feathers for example. As a bonus, this is a project you can
do sitting on your couch and to prove it, I made these pom poms while
sitting on my couch watching How I Met Your Mother reruns. Also, this
would be a fun project to do as a group if you want to make these for your
bridal party.

Gather your materials!

  • Shoe clips (You can get these on etsy!)
  • fabric (I used tulle, which creates a stiff formed pom pom. You
can use chiffon which would create a softer pom pom. Yarn for a very
crafty look. Jersey/old t-shirts for a casual look. Burlap for a very
    rustic look. Basically get creative!)
  • Pom pom maker or piece of cardboard (explanation below)
  • Glue to attach pom pom to shoe clip. You can use E6000, hot glue
or if you don’t have any glue, you can sew the pom poms on.

Close up of the shoe clips. You want to
attach your pom poms to the smaller side. The large side has little hooks
to keep your pom poms attached to shoes securely.

Cut your fabric into strips. I went with
about 3/4 of an inch. It doesn’t have to be precise.

A pile of tulle cut into strips! Feel free
to make your pile of fabric a bit more tidy.

If you have a pom pom maker, by all means
break that out at this point and follow the directions on your pom pom
maker to create your pom poms. If you either don’t have a pom pom maker or
you’re like me and aren’t quite sure where it’s located in your craft
closet, then you can use a piece of cardboard. Cut a piece of cardboard
into a 2 – 2.5 inch square. You can alter the size of the cardboard square
based on how big you want the pom pom.

Wrap the fabric around the cardboard. The
amount you wrap will determine how full your pom pom is. This is a quick
project so if you don’t like it, it’s easy enough to redo.

Once you have wrapped as much fabric as you
want for your pom pom, slide it off the cardboard and tie a piece of fabric
around the middle. It will look like the pretty little bow below.

Cut the loops on your pom pom and “puff” it
up.

Then attach your pom pom to your shoe clip
either by gluing or sewing. I apologize as I failed to take a picture of
that step! You can add some extra rhinestones or other bling to your pom
poms.

Then clip those pretties to your
shoes!

Color Inspiration Board

January 4

Loving this color palette for a wedding and then found this little wedding inspiration board with this color. Wouldn’t it be divine for your wedding in the Caribbean!?

This color inspiration board is gorgeous in teal with great details and amazing color. This is a great way to use color boards from places like Design Seed and merge it into a great looking wedding.
